 Louis Fischer was a Jewish-American journalist, who wrote the book 'Life of Mahatma Gandhi'. this story 'Indigo' is an excerpt from the book.This story describes how Gandhiji struggled for the poor peasants of Champaran. This is a true incident in that took place in Gandhi's life in the year 1967. the story takes us to the phase of the British Rule in India, when Gandhiji attended the Annual Convention of the Indian Congress in 1916, a poor peasant named Rajkumar Shukla approached Gandhiji. he requested Gandhi to accompany him to Champaran to solve the miseries of the poor farmers living there. Rajkumar Shukla was one of the share-croppers of Champaran, who had come to appeal against the injustice of the landlord system in Bihar. the peasant accompanied Gandhi wherever he went and begged him to visit Champaran. This story tells us about greed and avarice that humans have for materialistic things.  Deep waters written by William Douglas is a story which teaches us that all we have to fear is fear itself. We are supposed to be strong and move towards our fear fearlessly so that fear itself leaves us and does not dare to come back again. The story depicts how the narrator had been afraid of water due to his past horrible experience. That fear he felt when he was ten or eleven years old came running behind him and how after lots of struggle, patience and hardwork he finials overcomes his fear challenging it to never come back again.
